Servicemen's News Ft McClellan, Ala Army Private Donal L. Phelps, 19 son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Phelps, R. 1, Kingston, Mich., completed nine weeks of advanced infantry training Jan 19, at Ft. McClellan, Ala. The course which simulates Vietnam conditions, includes training in such subjects as land navigation, communications, patrolling, guerrilla and survival techniques plus qualifications with infantry weapons.

Rummage and Bake Sale: The Tuscola County Association for Retarded Children are holding a rummage and bake sale, Feb 8-9-10 and Feb. 15-16-17 in the Hanes building, former Caro Surplus Store, 1006 E. Caro Road to raise funds for an activity center for our older retarded and other not able to attend any other school. The Association has obtained the Connor School on Riley Road for this purpose. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller are the proud parents of a 6 lb. 12 oz, baby girl, Amy Leeann, born January 16th. The Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cummins and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller of Vassar. Great grandfather is Ross Warner of Caro.

Society News Mrs. Pearl Ogg received word that her brother Dr. Shaffer of Bedford, Penn., world traveler and criminal lawyer, had passed away. The funeral will be Tuesday with burial in the family plot in Jeanette, Pa. Besides his sister, he leaves a niece, Mrs. Judy Mathews of Caro. Miss Mary Rassette of C.M.U. Mt. Pleasant is spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette. Mr. and Mrs. James Jersey of Grand Ledge spent the week end with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement. S/Sgt. and Mrs. Lyle T. Torongeau and family spent the week end at the Ernest Torongeau home. S/Sgt. Torongeau has just returned from Vietnam. Mrs. Douglas Ensign and children visited her mother, Mrs. Everett Rich of Silverwood, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Harland Legg, Mr. and Mrs. Don Legg attended the Sportsmans Show and Grand Ole Opry at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks of Pontiac spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ensign. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McCutcheon of Lewiston spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons and called on their mother, Mrs. Mary Booth at the Medical Facility in Caro. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson McIntyre and children of Owosso spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Moore. Mrs. Richard Wynn and children are spending a while in Owosso with relatives, as Mr. Wynn is in Jamaica for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell were caller in Saginaw Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign were Friday evening callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ensign in Caro. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Green were week end visitors of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer were recent visitors of Mrs. Ethel Lewis and other relatives in Flint. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Watkins were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harland Legg. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Janneck and family of Trenton spent the week end at the Ernest Torongeau home. Roger and Mike Clement are spending the mid-term vacation from C.M.U. at the Dale Clement home. Mr. Everett Penfold and Judy spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Showers and son in Rochester. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sunken and baby of Charlotte spent the week end at the Wayne Schrader home. The men attended the hockey game at Port Huron. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lalko, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Gettel, Mrs. Wm. Schwaderer, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Taylor, Mrs. Larry Taylor, and Miss Renae Rayl attended the band concert at Lakers High School Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Catlin and family spent the week end at the Ernest Torongeau home. Miss Becky Schrader attended the Mid Winter Conference of M.Y.F at Saginaw over the week end. Mrs. Frank Dulac returned home Saturday from her daughters in Keego Harbor.
