Servicemen’s News

WITH THE COMBAT AIR FORCES, Vietnam – Sergeant Larry J. Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Taylor, RR. 1, Dorrance Road, Kingston, Mich, is on duty at Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam.

Sergeant Taylor, an air operations specialist, is a member of the Pacific Air Forces.

Before his arrival in Vietnam, he was assigned to Dover AFB, Del.

The sergeant is a 1963 graduate of Kingston Community High School.

His wife Judith, is the daughter of Mrs. Esther Januckowski, of R. R. 3, Edwardsburg, Mich.

PURELY LOCAL

Mrs. Allister Seegar of Riverside, California was a recent visitor of friends and relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons called on his Mrs. Mary Booth at the Carol Medical Center, Sunday.

Mrs. Basil Hudson and Mrs. Leland Ensign were business callers in Saginaw on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wynn returned home Sunday from a 2 weeks business trip to Chicago and San Diego, California.

Sunday Leland Ensign and Lee Ensign called on Jay Ensign who is ill in St. Joseph Hospital, Flint.

Mr. and Mrs. Carylye Everette were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Hazel Wilmot.

Mr. and Mrs. Basil Noble were recent callers on relatives here and Mrs. Ethel Annin in the Marlette Hospital.

James Coan has returned home after spending the holidays with his daughters in Pontiac.

Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks in Pontiac. Miss Alice Steele, who has spent the week with her aunt returned home with them.

Council Proceedings

A regular meeting of the Kingston Common Council was called to order by President Edward Kaminski at 7:15 P.M. in the Council room on January 2, 1968 with the following members present: Barrons, Gettel, Harmon and Peter.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were referred to the Audit Committee. Moved Harmon and supported by Gettel that the bill be allowed and orders be drawn for same. Ayes – All: Nays – 0 Motion carried.

It was decided by the Village Council that Christmas Trees will be picked up on January 8, 1968, The trees must be out at the curb by 9:00 A.M. This is the only time that trees will be picked up.l It was also decided that the Village Dump will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. from now on. The junk will be picked up each Tuesday. Due to state restrictions combustible material will not be picked up. Trash must in a metal of plastic containers for pick up. Also, the containers must be at the curb for pickup by 9:00 A.M.

A report was made by the Fire Department Committee.

Moved by Gettel and supported by Peter that the following people be appointed as Canvassers for the annual election in March, 1968. John Barden, Sr., Ann Lewicki, Jane Ann Lalko, and Orrie Reimann. Ayes, All; Nays, 0. Motion Carried.

Moved by Peter and supported by Barrons that the following proposal by the Village Treasurer, be accepted: Purchase with the Sewer Sinking Funds in the amount of $28.60 from the General Fund Certificate of the July 3, 1962 series to make their certificate $500.00. Also to purchase $33.00 from the General Fund Certificate of July 3, 1962 series to make the Building Sinking Fund Certificates series $7.000.00. This would leave in the July 3, 1692 series $1,500.00 in General Fund Certificates, $1,000.00 in Water Fund Certificates, 4500.00 in Sewer Sinking Fund Certificates, and $7,000.00 in Building Sinking Fund Certificates. Also to purchase a $500.00 Savings Certificate from the Building Sinking Fund. Ayes, All: Nays, 0. Motion carried.

Moved by Gettel, supported by Barrons that the meeting be adjourned. Carried.
