DEATH NOTICES Irving Guy Berry passed away Monday, January 8, 1968 at the age of 88, in the Saginaw General Hospital. He was born February 23, 19884 in Wells Township. He and Clara Grovenburg were married December 22, 1904 in Sterling, Michigan. Mr. Berry leaves his wife, two sons Howard of Caro, and John of Deford; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 1 brother of Snover, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Nora Weeden, Flint; Mrs. Dora Mitchell and Mrs. Laura Leese of Detroit. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 1968 from the Pilgrim Holiness Church. Rev. R. Dean assisted by Rev. W. Traver officiated. Burial was in the Indianfields Cemetery.

Ft Knox, KY, Jan 10 Army Private Allen J. Nickens is assigned to Company C, 15th Bttalion, 4th Brdgade, here in the United States Army Training Center, Armor (USATCA). He will spend the next two months learning to fundamental skills of the soldier in todays modern, action Army firing live ammunition under simulated combat situations, learning protective measures and first air for chemical, biological, and radiological attacks, as well as being schooled in the use of modern arms. Intrespaced with constant emphasis of proper physical conditioning, diet, rest and health habits, will be ample opportunity to utilize the USATCAs many and varied recreational and religious facilities. Following the completion of basic training, Pvt. Nickens, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nickens of 4088 Kingston Road, Kingston, Michigan, will receive at least an additional eight weeks of either advanced instruction or on-the-job training to qualify him in a specialized military skill. PHU LOI, VIET NAM Army Private First Class Lee I. Chapel, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman J. Chapel, 9861 Main St. Clifford, Mich, was assigned as an artilleryman in Battery A, 1st Battalion of the 1st Infantry Divisions 5th Artilley near Phu Loi, Viet Nam, Dec 14. Pvt Chapels wife, Sue, lives at 3461 Elm Street in Kingston.

The 7th graders of the Kingston Community School had a very nice dance Saturday evening. It was attended and enjoyed by all. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Gendron of Flint and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Torongeau were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette. Mrs. Bernice Walker of Lapeer is visiting with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Moore. Ray Moore of Lapeer visited at the B. E. Moore home last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Hudson of Gladwin called at the James Caswell home Sunday evening. Art Steele, who was home for the weekend returned to C.M.U. with them. Mr. Bill Noto has returned home from the Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital as is feeling much better. Cathy Franckowiak was home over the week end to visit her parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Franckowiak. She is attending Saginaw Business School. Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Burmeister and children of Auburn Heights were Saturday guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burmeister. Mrs. Leo Legg and Mrs. Marvin Kramer called on Mrs. Ethel Annin at the Marlette Hospital and Mrs. Dorothy Lee at Marlette Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Wayne Schrader called on Mrs. Edith Pigott Wednesday in Marlette. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Torongeau and family of Taylor spent the weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Torongeau. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Van Wagoner celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth on Sunday. Dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gould and daughter Glenna, also Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burmeister. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Davis and Paula of Columbus, Ohio, Rev Harold Richner of Clio and Rev. and Mrs. Raymond Dean were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Moore and Ellen Marie Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Green and family of Lake Orion and Mr. and Mrs. John Richter of Saginaw were Sunday dinner guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal. Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Legg were honored on their 51st wedding anniversary at a dinner at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. To help them celebrate were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Legg, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer, and Mr. and Mrs. Mik Lalko. The Leggs were married January 17, 1917.
