Honored on 25th Anniversary

On Sunday, January 21, 1968, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Rieck were honored at an open house on their 25th wedding anniversary. Their children, Roger, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rieck and Shelly, and Debbie planned the occasion.

The open house was held at the Rieck’s home at 4549 E. Sanilac Road, Mr. and Mrs. Rieck were married in 1943 in Bay City, Michigan by Rev. Pluman. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jeffrey of Bay City.

Many neighbors, friends and relatives attended and the couple recieved many lovely gifts. Ice cream and cake were served.

Baby Christened

Sunday, January 21, David Francis Champagne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Champagne was christened after late mass by Father Raymond Pilarski. Little David was born January 10th. Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pincaski of Pigeon. A dinner was served at the parents home with the Godparents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Champagne in attendance.

Death Notices

John H. McBurney

Cass City – John Wesley McBurney, 62, lifelong resident of this vicinity and employee of a Cass City factory, died Thursday night in Hills and Dales General Hospital where he was a patient since Tuesday.

Mr. McBurney, son of the late Hugh and Alice Rose McBurney, was born May 24, 1905 in Elkland township, Tuscola County.

He and Miss Elsie Morse were married Nov. 14, 1931 at Caro.

Mr. McBurney is survived by his widow, a son, Douglas of Caro; two grandchildren and a brother, Martin McBurney, Rochester.

He was a member of Tyler Lodger No. 317, F. & A. M.

The remains were in Little’s Funeral Home where services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Dr. Marion S. Hostetler, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiated.

Tyler lodge conducted committal services in Elkland Cemetery.

In loving memory of Lewis L. Powell who passed away a year ago today, Jan 24. Our hearts ache for him many times, but our love for him still lingers on. Sadly missed by all. His family.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign, and family were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCleod and family of Silverwood.

Miss Cathy Parker of Horton attended school here Monday with her cousin Kim Parker. Cathy will be moving here soon with her parents and will attend High School here.

Council Proceedings

A special meeting of the Kingston Common Council was called to order by President Edward Kaminski at 7:30 p.m. in the council room on January 15, 1968 with the following members present: Barrons, Gettel, Harmon, Lewicki and Peter.

William Drillock, Village Attorney was present.

There was a general discussion in regards to fire calls and billing procedures. It was decided that a carbon copy of all fire call letters be sent to the Township Clerk as well as the person involved.

There was a general discussion on social security and income tax procedures on village employees.

There was a general discussion on water billings and procedures involved.

Moved by Harmon, supported by Barrons that meeting be adjourned. Carried.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Grindley of Owosso spent a couple of days last week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Moore and Ellen Marie.

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons called on his mother, Mrs. Mary Booth at Caro Medical Facility, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Boyne of Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Don Powell, and family of Lum were recent callers of their mother, Mrs. Hazel Wilmot and other relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hurshburger of Bay City spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hurshburger, Sr.

Mrs. Alger Rutherford of Flint spent Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement.

Everett Penfold, Dale Penfold and Mrs. Helen Gilliland were Sunday callers of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Penfold in Kinde.

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons were business callers in Flint, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Walk of Caro, were Tuesday supper guests of Mrs. Hazel Wilmot.

Mrs. Earl McTavish and Mrs. Clare Lefler of Marlette called on relatives here on Thursday. They were supper guests of Mr. aand Mrs. Marvin Kramer and Joy.

Mr. and Mrs. James Jersey spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Quiel and family of Taylor spent the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs. Earnest Torongeau.

Mr. and Mrs. George Parker and family of Horton spent the week end with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Parker.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer and Joy visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ven Stark and son of Mt. Pleasant, Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rassette of Harper Woods were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette.

Mr. and Mrs. Forest Thornton of Port Huron spent Sunday with their sister, Mrs. Hazel Wilmot.
