65th Annual VanWagoner Reunion

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gould and Glenna of Caro, Mr. and Mrs. Glen VanWagoner and Mrs. J. M. Burmeister attended the 65th Annual VanWagoner Reunion on the Last Saturday in June at Syony Lake, Oxford, Michigan.

About fifty members of the family enjoyed a wonderful picnic dinner in the pavilion at one o’clock. A short business meeting was held and all officers re-elected. President: Harold (Bud) Burmeister, Auburn Heights; Vice-Pres. Murray D. (Pat) VanWagoner, Birmingham; Secretary Helen (Murphy) Maloney, Deaborn, Treasurer Bernice (VanWagoner) Fischer, Oxford.

The group was glad to have Horace Underwood III, his wife Joan and three sons from Seoul, Korea. The family has been on a years leave of absence in New York City. They will visit his sister, Grace, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a few days and start home where both Horance and Joan are teachers in Seoul, University. The college was founded by his grandfather in 1895.

One of his remarks was "I think that it is safer in Seoul, Korea than in the United States. After a year in New York City he must have had some enlightening experiences as a Presbyterian Minister.

SOCIAL NEWS

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kremer of Pontiac and Rene Shields of Koylton were Sunday callers at the Leo Legg home.

Mr. and Mrs. George Whaley and Brian of Parkersbury, W. Virginia spent several days with relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Kramer spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vernard Stark and children in Saginaw.

Shelley Schwaderer and her cousin Denise O’Kelly of Marlette are spending a few days with Chris Schwaderer at Mt. Pleasant. Chris is attending the summer session at Central Michigan University.

Mrs. Henry Speikermana nd Mr. Otto Stockel of Saginaw were Thursday guests of Mrs. Hazel Wilmot.

Mrs. Cecile Van Cleave left Monday for Salinas, California to visit her sister Mrs. Hazel Evanson.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rassette and family of Linwood were Sunday guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette.

Rev. Sherman Beird of the Kochville Parish, Saginaw was a caller in Kingston, Monday.

Mrs. Lorna Woodruff of Royal Oak is visiting her cousins Mr. and Mrs. Amber Jones.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign and family attended the Rich Family Reunion at the Veteran Memorial Park, Bay City on Sunday. It also honored Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rice of Sterling on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Eastman of Cass City called on relatives and friends here Friday.

Mrs. James Caswell, Mrs. Basil Hudson, and Mrs. Terry Hudson of Marlette left Wednesday for Killeen, Texas, where Pvt. Terry Hudson of Marlette is stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. Mrs. Terry Hudson stayed to be with her husband. Mrs. Caswell and Mrs. Basil Hudson returned by plane to Metropolitan Airport, Detroit, Monday, where their sister Mrs. Frank Brooks of Pontiac and Miss Alice Steele met them. While in Texas they attended the Hemisfair in San Antonio.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parrott, Jr. and family attended the family reunion in Squires Park, Sunday.

Kurt Legg is taking a Postgraduate course at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Mrs. Edith Pigott, and Mr. Chas Schrader and children of Marlette called on Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Schrader, Becky and Mary Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Showers and Shannon of Rochester spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Penfold.

Mr. Wayne Schrader and Mr. Chas. Schrader of Marlette attended the ballgame in Detroit Friday.

Miss Alice Steele spent Sun. and Mon. with her aunt Mrs. Frank Brooks in Pontiac.

Chris Schwaderer boarded a Wednesday flight to Chicago from Tri-City airport. She will be visiting Mr. and Mrs. James Fitzhenry of Arlington Heights of the July 4th weekend.

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

A special meeting of the Kingston Common Council was called to order by President Edward Kaminski at 7:45 P.M. in the Kingston Community School June 27, 1968 with the following members present: Barrons, Cameron, and Mrs. Lalko. Peter arrived late.

Attorney William Drillock was present for the meeting.

After a lengthy discussion of the proposed subdivision ordinance, motion was made by Barons to instruct Attorney William Drillock to contact the Department of Commerce in regards to the whole Planning & Zoning Report. Supported by Mrs. Lalko. Ayes – All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

Motion by Mrs. Lalko, supported by Cameron to accept the building permit of E. J. Powell for a garage with a breezeway to house. Ayes –All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

Moved by Barrons, supported by Cameron that we adjourn.
