DEATH NOTICES

Eber J. Stewart, 73, retired farmer of Kingston Township, died Saturday June 1, in Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City.

Mr. Steward was born July 1, 1894, at Wilmot, the son of the late Frank and Anne Van Wagoner Stewart. He and Alice Ferguson were married June 16, 1923.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Jean Woods, Marlette and Miss Shirley Stewart who lives at home, two sons, Frank of Warren and Douglas of Marlette. There are 13 grandchildren

The remains were at Little’s Funeral Home, Cass City where services were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, June 3, by David Altman, minister of Novesta Church of Christ. Burial was in the Novesta Cemetery.

PURELY LOCAL

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons called on his mother Mrs. Mary Booth of the Medical center in Caro, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Showers and Shannon spent the weekend at the home of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Everett Penfold and Judy.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schrader and family spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Schrader, Becky and Mary.

Mrs. Pearl Silvernail has moved to the home she recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Browning.

Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell and Miss Alice Steele spent the weekend at their cabin.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Legg and Mrs. Cecil VanCleave called on Mrs. Jean Jeffery in Mayville Friday evening.

Mrs. Beulah M. France and son Mahlon have moved into the home they recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Amber Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Jones will be living in the upstairs apartment until they leave from their home in Eau Gallie, Florida.

Don Legg left Saturday for 2 weeks with the National Guard at Grayling, Michigan.

Mrs. Emma Wilkinson had the misfortune of falling and breaking an arm one day last week. She is now staying with her son and family Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wilkinson.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ensign, Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign and Alice Steele attended the Commencement exercises and Open House in Marlette where Thomas Ensign, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ensign was graduated.

Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Everett, Mrs. Vernon Everett, Mrs. Hazel Wilmot, and Mrs. Dean Boyne of Leonard attended the Graduation exercises of Miss Beverly Everett from Spring Arbor College Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Don Gould and Glenna of Caro visited her father Glen Van Wagner on Monday. Her mother who has been hospitalized for several days returned home on Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Torongeau were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Bebow have moved into their home they recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sutphin.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Diegel, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parrott, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Browning, Mrs. Mary Kelly, and Mrs. Walter Legg were among those from here who attended the Commencement Exercises at Marlette Sunday.

Mrs. Grace VeVeau and grandson of Royal Oak, Mrs. Ella Mapley of Durand and Mrs. Bess Georgi of Detroit called on relatives and friends here Memorial Day.

Jay Parker of Air Force Base in Arizona is visiting relatives here while on furlough.

Donald Legg of Roscommon visited James Parker and family over the weekend. Mrs. Cecile VanCleave returned to Roscommon with him to visit her relatives there.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Clement of Chesaning spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement and Tom.

Miss Cheryl Parker of Lansing visited her grandmother, Mrs. Frank Parker over the holiday week.

Ross Hartt, a former resident here, is confined to his home in Ferndale by illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Murphy of Pontiac, Mrs. Clare Burmeister and children of Clawson, Mrs. Catherine Stevens, and two lady friends of Saginaw visited at the John Burmeister home during the past week. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Van Wagoner, Mrs. Ruth Frost and Mrs. Irene Cameron of Marlette.
