Lt. Gov. To Speak At Farm Bureau
Dedication
Lt. Gov. William G. Milliken and list of top civic,
agricultural and business guests will join with the invited public at ceremonies to
dedicate the new regional Farm Bureau Supply Center located at 4330 Westervelt Rd.,
Zilwaukee, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 1967.
The Farm Bureau Supply Center is a new concept in
agricultural retailing and wholesale operations designed to offer a complete line of home
and garden supplies for both urban and suburban residents of the Tri-County area, said
Elton R. Smith, president of the Farm Bureau Services, Inc.
"The new one-stop center is our recognition of the fact
that peoples time, whether theyre city or rural dwellers is increasingly more
valuable," said Smith. "We feel that we can better serve our function
that of serving all the people of Michigan if our services and products are
available from a central location."
The Farm Bureau Services retail and wholesale outlet for
years operated from a downtown location in Saginaw, but shifts in the population,
redistribution of traffic because of the new bridge and the need for convenient, central
location were given by Smith as reasons for the change.
Already in operation at the site of the new center is the
Michigan Elevator Exchange grain and bean terminal. Adjacent to the terminal is the Farm
Bureau Feed Mill.
Named to manage the center is Hein Meyering. He will be
assisted by Reuben Preutz, a long-time manager of the Washington Avenue branch of FBS.
Sales representatives in the will be Al Johnson, while Arnold Sy will serve behind the
sales counter and Frank Olshove as warehouse superintendent |
