SOCIAL NEWS

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Olmstead of Bellevue were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons.

Mrs. Arnold Moore and Mrs. Wiswell called on their sister and daughter Mrs. R. L. Dafoe in Pontiac Hospital Friday.

Mrs. Louis W. Wenzlaff, Leland Ensign, and Frank Nemeth attended the District meeting of Township Officers at the Sherwood County Club, Gagetown, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Law of Vassar and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Howell of Reese spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign and children spent the weekend at the Ensign cabin.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette spent the past week at Detroit with their grandchildren, the Jack Lenahan family, while their parents were on vacation. Friday they attended the wedding of their son Guy and Miss Loraine LaCroix at St.John Berchman Church. Assisting at the Mass was Monsignor Edmond Fournier cousin of the groom. They returned home Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rassette of Linwood.

Mr. Walter Parrott, Sr., and Miss Lois Parrott of Troy spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parrott, Jr.

Mrs. J. H. McCutchen of Lewiston was a weekend guest at the Alton Lyons home.

Art Steele, Lonnie Bewerenitz, Barbara and John Fox, Wayne Moore, Jane Houghton, Mary Rassette, and Dennis Koehler were among the students home from college with their parents over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Browning of Drayton Plains spent the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Browning and Joan.

Mrs. Hazel Parker was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Legg.

Mrs. Leo Legg called on Mrs. Ethel Annin and Mrs. Dorothy Lee at the Memorial Wing of the Marlette Hospital Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burns and baby spent the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Houghton and Mr. and Mrs. John Burns.

Mrs. Wayne Schrader, Mary, Becky and Miss Judy Penfold called on friends in Columbiaville Sunday.

Mrs. Beulah France returned home Monday after visiting her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon France. While there she also visited her grandson Mr. and Mrs. James France and family of Fenton.

Mrs. Marie Goodwin of Royal Oak is visiting her brother Mr. and Mrs. Louis F. Wenzlaff this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Lyons spent the week in Lake City with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fortier.

Doc Stoner of the Medical Facilities at Caro spent Monday and Tuesday at his home here.

Mr. and Mrs. Montford Sharp of Pontiac visited Mr. and Mrs. Emil Richter and family Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ven Stark and children of Saginaw, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stark of Mancelona, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Kramer, Doug Kramer, and Miss Laula Lundberg of Mt. Pleasant were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer and Joy.

Friday evening James Parker Kim, Nancy, and Brad Parker attended the reception in St. Clair Shores honoring Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rassette.

Word has been received that Mrs. Cecile VanCleave, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Helen Evanson in California has returned to her home in Mobile, Alabama

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

A regular meeting of the Kingston Common Council was called to order by President Edward Kaminski at 7:30 P.M. in the council rooms on October 7, 1968 with the following members present: Barrons, Cameron, Gettel, Mrs. Lalko, and Peter.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Attorney William Drillock was present.

Three representatives from the Michigan Public Service Commission and Robert Wellington of the Tuscola County Road Commission were present for a discussion on the Railroad crossing through the Village of Kingston. After a lengthy discussion it was decided that a high intensity beam would will be installed. Moved by Cameron, supported by Gettel that we modify the existing railroad crossing condition per the recommendation of the Michigan Public Service Commission. Ayes – All, Nays – 0. Motion carried.

Stanley Moore, John Burns, Louis Wenzlaff, Marguerite Caswell and John Burden, Jr. were the businessmen present for a discussion on Christmas decorations in the Village of Kingston. A discussion between the businessmen present and the council followed. It was decided that the Fire Department would take care of seeing that the decorations were erected and taken down. Louis Wenzlaff was appointed to contact the businessmen in regards to their individual decorations.

Due to the resignations from the Planning and Zoning Commission, the following appointments and their terms are hereby made. Ted Bebow, 2 years; Rev Raymond Dean, 2 years; Geneva Bass, 3 years; Marguerite Caswell, 3 years; and Nancy E. Ruggles, 3 years.

The Commission is presently constituted of the following and their terms are as follows: Albert Peter, Chairman, 1 year; Irene Schwaderer, Secretary, 1 year; Ted Froede, 1 year; Jim Barrons, Council Representative, 2 years.

Bills were referred to the Audit Committee, moved by Cameron, supported by Barrons that the bills be allowed and orders drawn for same. Ayes – All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

Moved by Peter, supported by Cameron to accept the building permit of Donald E. Bass for remodeling work in the rear of home. Ayes – All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

Moved by Peter, supported by Cameron to accept the building permit of Moore’s Service for an addition to rear of station. Ayes – All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

Moved by Peter, supported by Cameron to accept the building permit of Mrs. Hazel Wilmot for remodeling kitchen, dining room and bathroom. Ayes – All, Nays – 0, motion carried.

The Kingston Fire Department said it would flood an ice pond for skating this winter across from the school grounds.

Moved by Mrs. Lalko, supported by Gettel that the meeting be adjourned.
