Barn Burns Tuesday evening about 6:30 the Kingston Fire Department was called to the Donald Lake farm one-half mile east of East Dayton on M-46 where the large barn was afire. Later fire departments from Caro and Mayville were also called but the barn could not be saved. No stock was lost as a their small son let some young stock out of the barn and the milking herd was not in the barn at the time. Due to the high wind, members of the fire department were on the roof of the house with water hose during the worst of the blaze. Caro and Mayville departments were at the scene about 3 hours. Kingston Department stayed all night to save the house and other buildings. No estimate of the loss is made at the present time but the barn was full of hay, straw and grain. A car parked between the barn and house was also destroyed.

4-H Club News The Annual 4-H Leaders Recognition Banquet was held on Tuesday evening, October 17, 1967. All 4-H leaders that attended, I am sure, were inspired by the program presentation of Miss Dorothy Emerson. Miss Emerson is associated with the National 4-H Club Foundation in Washington D.C. She travels throughout the country speaking to people on how to gain confidence and use their unique abilities. She is not a speaker. Shes a platform conversationalist. She does not speak to you, but rather, she talks with you. Special consideration at this recognition banquet was the presentation of Tuscola County alumni recognition to Mr. Harry Rohlfs, by Quentin Howell, chairman of the agricultural committee. In the absence of Mr. Rohlfs, the formal presentation was made to Mr. Fred Black, Sr., who was to personally present the alumni pin to Mr. Rohlfs. Other awards presented that evening included the following service clover pins: 5 year Silver Clover award: Mr. and Mrs. Don Peche, Mrs. James Rabideau, Mrs. Lyle Clarke, Mrs. Morris Petiprin, Mrs. Don Roller, Mrs. Lyle Curry, Mrs. Marvin Louis, Mrs. Stanley Lagos, Mrs. Don DeLong, Mrs. Albert Hoard, Mrs. Jack Johnson, Mr. John Wenta; 10 year Gold Clover award: Mrs. John Wenta, Mrs. Vincent Wald, Mrs. Charles Gilkey; 15 year Pearl Clover award: Mrs. Wallace Ruppert, Mr. Blenford Campbell, Mrs. Waldo Garner; 20 year Diamond Clover award: Mrs. Floyd Werdeman.
