Tom Clement Declared Semi-finalist Tom (Horance) Clement,a senior at Kingston High School, has been named as a semifinalist in the National Scholarship competition, according to Jerome g. Schwartz, Principal. Achievement of a semifinalist rank is a great accomplishment and a unique experience. Fewer than one per-cent (1%) of all students the yearly exam achieve such status. Tom is now eligible to compete for the finals. Tom has attended Kingston Community School for eight (8) years. Marlette Community School for one (1) year, and Chesaning Community School for two (2) years. His parents are deceased and he is now living with his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement of Kingston. The principal function of the National Merit qualifying test is to identify students of exceptional intellectual promise and attainments.

Servicemens News Airman Second Class Dale B. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie B. Nelson of 3385 River St., Kingston, Mich. Has arrived for duty at Patrick AFB, Florida. Air Nelson, a jet engine mechanic is assigned to a unit of the Air Force Systems Command which advances Americas aerospace technology through development of new systems and hardware to keep pace with the worlds technological race. He previously served at Udorn Royal Thai, AFB, Thailand. The airman is a graduate of Kingston High School.
Sept. 25 Sonar Technician Seaman Apprentice Stephen D. Moyer, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leander G. Moyer or 5423 S. Cemetery Road, Kingston, Mich., has returned to Newport , R.I, aboard the destroyer USS Massey after a four month tour of duty in the Mediterranean. During the deployment the destroyer participated in 6th Fleet exercises and provided anti-submarine support for an attack carrier striking force. The Massey is armed with anti-submarine torpedos, dual purpose guns and a remote control anti-submarine helicopter. During the Middle East crisis, the Massey was among the first ships to render aid to the technical research ship Liberty after it had been mistakenly attacked.
Sept 11 Fireman Apprentice Edward J. Forbes, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edsel E. Forbes of 9537 Washington St. Clifford, Mich., is in Norfolk, Va., serving at the U.S. Naval Station. The Norfolk Naval Station is the center of the largest Navy complex in the world and directly supports the shore activities in the are, and the U.S. Sixth and Second Fleets.

Vice-President, will represent the Kingston FFA at the National FFA Convention in Kansas
City, Mo., Oct 8-15. The boys will be part of the Reg, 3&7 National Convention Bus
load. The Kingston State Bank contributed $60.00 towards cost of the trip. Mike McLaughlin
is back-up member.

OBITUARIES NORMA GAMMAGE Norma Gammage, 38 passed away Thursday, September 28, in the University Hospital at Ann Arbor after an illness of six months. Norma was born February 13, 1929 in Clifford and lived there until 2 years ago when the family moved to Montrose. She and Norman Gammage were married in Kingston in 1947, Besides her husband, she leaves 3 daughters, Linda, Deborah, and Carol all at home; her mother, Mrs. Charlotte Armstrong, Clifford, 4 brothers, Edwin, of Barrons Lake, Robert, Ferndale, Dewey and LD of Clifford; 4 sisters, Hilda Furkovich, of Detroit, Doreen Shingledecker, Davison, and Dorothy McSkulin of Pontiac. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 1 at 2 p.m. from the Harmon Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Mead officiating. Burial was in the Kingston Cemetery.
