General showers on the 18th and 19th were beneficial; however some corn and soybean fields were beyond help. Light frost was also reported in some areas. Field work continued at a fast pace with nearly 6 days suitable for field work.

Injured in Accident Mrs. George (Maxine) Parker and son Scott of Horton and Mrs. Russell Watson of Caseville were injured Monday morning, August 21 in a two car accident at the intersection of M-46 and M-24, 10 miles west of Kingston. They were taken to the Caro Community hospital where the Parkers suffered from cuts to the head and face and Mr. Watson suffered a shoulder fracture. Mr. Watson was traveling south and moved into the intersection into the path of the west-bound car driven by Mrs. Parker. Wastson, who was given a summons for failure to yield the center-of-way, stated that he thought the intersection was clear. He said he was waved on by a flagman for the Saginaw Asphalt Co., who have been blacktopping the intersection. However, the east-west bound traffic on M-46 from which the Parker vehicle was traveling has the center-of-way.
