Pontiac Pilgrim Holiness Church

Rev William Lyons has recently assumed the pastorate of Pontiac Pilgrim Holiness Church at Baldwin and Fairgrove.

He succeeds Rev. William Doe, who was elected District Superintendent at the District Conference in July.

Rev. Lyons grew up in Michigan, graduating from Kingston High School in 1957.

He received his theology degree from Owosso College in 1953, and has continued to work towards his BA degree.

He comes to Pontiac from Croswell, where he was pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church for eight years. Previous pastorates were in Warren and Cheboygan. He has devoted 14 hears to the ministry of the East Michigan District of Pilgrim Holiness Churches.

Rev. Lyons and his wife, Ova, have two children, Colleen, 15 and 12 year-old David.

Randy Lyons has gone to North Western University at Traverse City.

Jack Burns has gone to Western University, Kalamazoo.

Wed In Evening Ceremony

A six o’clock, evening ceremony at St. Pancratius Church, Cass City, on Saturday, Sept 2, united in marriage Miss Mary Lou Houghton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Houghton, and Mr. John C. Burns, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burn, all of Kingston.

Rev. Fr. A. Messing performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of families and friends.

A wedding supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents following the wedding.

The young couple are living at Kalamazoo where John is a junior at Western Michigan College.

SOCIETY NEWS

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sura and family of Mt. Pleasant spent Monday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rassette.

Mr. and Mrs. Dilles Walker and family, Mrs. Dwight Baldwin, and son of Drayton Plains and Gordon Walker of Caro were Sunday guests of Mrs. Cecil Walker.
George Parker, Scott and Mark or Horton, Mich., spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. Hazel Parker.
Mrs. Cecile Van Cleave attended the wedding of her grandson Joe Arnold Walker, in Mobile, Alabama. She visited her brother, Glenn Legg in Golden, Colorado and is now in Salinas, Calif., with her sister Mrs. Helen Evanson.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Schrader were business callers in Saginaw, Monday.
Mr. Wm. Penfold returned home from Lapeer Hospital, Wednesday following eve surgery.
Mrs. Louis Wenzlaff and Mrs. Gary Koehler were in Ann Arbor Monday to bring Shane Koehler home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bilicki took their daughter, Karen to East Lansing Sunday, where she will attend college.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Stark in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Congdon of Florida are spending several days with their mother, Mrs. Flossie McCool. Mrs. Alton Lyons was an afternoon caller Monday.

Mrs. Leo Legg and Mrs. Marvin Kramer called on Mrs. Ethel Annin and Mrs. John Lalko in the Marlette Hospital Tuesday.
Mr. Duane Gettel and Grant were in Lexington, Kentucky last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the National Quarterhorse Show. They helped James and Doris Dudley of Marine City, Mich. Prepare and show 12 head of horses. 136 horses were sold, the top horse in the show selling for $17.000.

Those from here that attended the State Convention for Wold Gospel Mission at Bay City last Wednesday and Thursday were Mrs. Arnold Moore, Mrs. B. E. Moore, Mrs. Cecil Walker, Mrs. J. H. Hunter, Mrs. Pearl Silvernail and Mrs. Wisnell.

Mrs. Douglas Ensign and children visited her aunt, Mrs. Wesley Kerbyson in Clio Friday.
Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Caswell were Mr. and Mrs. Basil Hudson, Lee Ensign, Terry Hudson of Marlette, Judy Fleming of Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hudson of Gladwin, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Steele and Tammy and Jim Froede.
Mr. Wm. Tong of Detroit, Sidney Tong, Lydia and Lisa of Ferndale were Saturday callers at the Leland Ensign home.

Mrs. R. D. Green and children of Lake Orion spent the week end at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal. They were joined on Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Archie Rodenbo and family of Auburn Heights.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign were in Northern Michigan over the week end.
Mrs. Hazel Wilmot is spending a few days with her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Dean Boyne in Leonard.
