GETZ Laddonia Herald Feb. 9, 1899

Died last Monday, at her home at Burlington Junction, Mo., Mrs. Jerry Getz, of cancer of the bowels. Mrs. Getz was a sister of Mrs. Jas. F. Poore of Laddonia. Contributed by Cheryl Oberhaus-no relation-no other information
GILLENWATER JONATHAN A. GILLENWATER
The funeral for Jonathan A. Gillenwater, 23, of Farber, was held Aug. 22, 2005, at the Farber Christian Church, Farber. The Rev. Glenn Mitchell officiated. Burial was in the Farber Cemetery. Music was provided by Harriett Mitchell, pianist, and Darrell Turnbull, soloist.

Pallbearers were Darrell Turnbull, Darryl Ball, Derek Hull, Larry Parks, Calvin Hull and Redd Dodd. Honorary pallbearers were Bruce Weilmuenster, Ruth Ann Crow, Barb VanAbbema, Twilla Shrout, Ralph Morgan and Dru Nugent.
Waters Funeral Home, Vandalia, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gillenwater died at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 18, 2005, at his home.He was born April 12, 1982, in Mexico to Chauncie James and Altha Lee Cheney Gillenwater.
He was a lifelong Farber resident and a member of the Farber Christian Church.
Survivors include his father Chauncie Gillenwater of Keokuk, Iowa; his mother, Altha Lee Gillenwater of Farber; his grandmother and friend, Ethel Cheney and Ralph Morgan of Farber; three brothers, Steven "Tony" Shade of Farber; Robert Gillenwater of New Hampshire; and James Gillenwater of Keokuk; four nephews, Austin Shade of Farber; Tyler Gillenwater of New Hampshire; and Cory and Cole Gillenwater of Keokuk; one niece, Megan Gillenwater of Keokuk; and aunts and uncles, Randy Cheney, Ruthie Clausen and Dick Cheney, all of Farber; Wayne and Debbie Cheney of Vandalia; Carolyn and Jimmie Ford of Louisiana; Myrna and Jerry Woolfolk of Lawson; Don Gillenwater and Betty Fields, both of Nauvoo, Ill.; Marlene and Don Cass of
Fort Madison, Iowa; Pat Riley of Perry; Wanda and Clinton Winders of Laddonia; and Evelyn Cheney of the Philippines.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Floyd Cheney and Chauncie and Ruth Gillenwater; and an uncle, Jim Clausen.

GLEASON Laddonia Herald Feb. 9, 1899

Mrs. Gleason, beloved wife of J. ?? Gleason, passed away Friday Feb. 3, aged 50 years. She had been a sufferer for two or three years with consumption. To this happy union four children were born, two sons and two daughters, -- she leaves a husband, four children and one sister. Funeral conducted by Rev. J. Goddard Mexico, Missouri , Feb. 8, 1906, page 5, column 3.

Mrs. Barbara Goddard died at her home on Bean Creek, this county, last Monday.  She was born Oct. 28, 1822, and consequently was aged 84 years, 1 month and 7 days.  Her native State was Ohio, Lawrence county.  She was married to George W. Goddard of Ohio in 1844.  They moved to Missouri in 1855.  To this union were born three sons and seven daughters.  Sons, Joseph, Albert and Frank; daughters, Mandy, Eliza, Theresa, Belle, Mary, Laura and Lena.  Belle living in San Bernida, California;  Mary in Montana, Kansas; and Mandy, Laura and Lena residing in Missouri.  The funeral was preached at the home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by Rev. H. B. Rice of Laddonia, from the text, John 14:6.  The pallbearers were: E. E. Shay, Charles Hubert, J. G. Ford, C. P. Arnold, James Quinlan and W. T. Arnall.  The burial was in the Mexico Cemetery.  Mrs. Goddard was beloved to all and the entire community joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones. A Long Life Ended
Grandma Marcena Green died at her home on North Water Street Monday morning at 4 o'clock.  She was one of the oldest ladies in Mexico, if not the oldest.  She was 81 years old and a native of St. Charles county, moving from there to Callaway, thence to Macon, thence to Monroe and located in
Mexico about 7 years ago.  Her husband has been deceased about thirty years.
She leaves the following children:  Mrs. A. M. Harrison, Mrs. L. Acuff and Miss Susie Green, all of this city, and J. B. Green, of Howard County.  The deceased was not a member of any church.

JAMES E. GREEN DIED HERE TUESDAY EVENING IN HOSPITAL.
Uncle Jimmie Green, as he was known to Mexico people is survived by seven children. James E. Green, 91 years old, and known in Mexico as "Uncle Jimmie Green" died at 11 o'clock at the Audrain Hospital Tuesday night, September 25, 1923. His death was the result of a fall from the porch of his daughter Ida Watts, N. Clark, and occurred Monday afternoon.
It was thought at first that he had only fractured his hip and that the injury was not so serious, but an examination at the hospital revealed the hip was broken. He suffered a great deal with the injury until his death Tuesday night.
Mr. Green was born Nov. 25, 1831 in Kentucky. When a very young man he came to Missouri and bought the farm, 4 miles south of Mexico which he still owned at the time of his death and where he had made his home until he came to live with his daughter, Mrs. Ida Watts, several years ago.
His wife (Sarah F. Byrns Green) died a number of years ago (Nov. 29, 1907) and he is survived by seven children:
Mrs. Ida Watts, Mexico; Mrs. Lyle (Emma W.) Brown, Columbia; Mrs. John (Sallie C.) Atkins, Vandalia; George W. Green, Mexico; James H. Green, Spokane, WA; Frank Green, Kansas; and Hampton Green, Auxvasse.
It is thought that all the children will be here for the funeral with the exception of James Green of Spokane.
Uncle Jimmie was a member of Union Chapel Church, a Presbyterian church near his farm. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning but further arrangements have not be made.

     Mrs. Thelma M. Green, 81, Dies Saturday
 
     Services for Mrs. Thelma M. Green, 81,   of 938 Emmons St., Mexico

, will be held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas B. Adams officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
     Mrs. Green died Saturday at 8:20 p.m. at Coldwell Nursing Home where she had been a resident for 10 days.
     She was a lifelong resident of Mexico where she was born July 27, 1903, to Ed and Emma Thorpe Botkin.  She was married in Mexico on Feb. 9, 1924, to Rudolph W. Green who survives at the home.
    Others surviving are one son, Thomas W. Green, Pueblo, Colo.; three grandsons, Rod and Dennis Green, Columbia, and David Green of Pueblo; and several great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by one sister.
    Mrs. Green had for many years been employed in the Food Service Departments of the Mexico Public Schools.
    Memorials may be made to the Mexico United Methodist Church of which she was a member.

The following obituary appeared in the May 27, 1991 issue of the Mexico Evening Ledger:
 
     Rudolph W. Green dies at 94
 
     Rudolph W. Green, 94, formerly of 938 Emmons, Mexico, died at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 27, 1991 at the Missouri Veterans' Home, where he had resided the past six years.
     He was employed for many years by Campbell Pest Control and also had worked for Audrain County at the fairgrounds.
     Mr. Green was an Army veteran of World War I. 
     Services have been set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Arnold Funeral Home.  The Rev. John Crowley will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
     Visitation  at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
     Mr. Green was born in Audrain County on Nov. 25, 1896 to George and Alice Worrell Green.  On Feb. 9, 1924, he was married in Mexico to Thelma Botkin, who died March 9, 1985.
     He is survived by a son, Thomas W. Green of Pueblo, Colo>.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
     A sister and a grandchild preceded him in death. 
 
     Note: The reference to a "grandchild" who preceded him death is incorrect, it should have read a "great-grandchild" and his mother's maiden name was actually Eller not Worrell.
 
     The following notice appeared in the Mexico Ledger, Thursday, May 30, 1991 on page 2:
 
     "The following served as pallbearers for Rudolph W. Green, whose funeral was held today:  James Breid, Bob Bentley, Charles Smith, Delbert Teel, Mike Tarrants and John Fitzpatrick."

Green Thomas W. Green  
Thomas William Green, 79, formerly of Mexico, MO. died Monday afternoon, September 20, 2004, at the Life Care Center of Pueblo, Colorado from complications of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.  Mr. Green was an employee of A. P. Green Refractories for over 40 years at their Mexico, Philadelphia and Pueblo plants.  His career included work in both the shipping and personnel departments.
Visitation and funeral services were held at Horan-McConaty Funeral Home in Lakewood, CO on Thursday evening, September 23, 2004.  Interment with military honors was on Friday morning, September 24th at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Mr. Green was born on April 14, 1925 in Mexico to Rudolph Worrell and Thelma Marion Bodkin Green.  He was named after his grandfathers, Thomas Edward Bodkin and George William Green. 
He graduated from Mexico Sr. High School in 1943 and from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kingsport, NY in the summer of 1945 with a dual commission in the U. S. Naval Reserve.  For the remainder of World War II, he would served aboard several Merchant Marine ships primarily involved in supplying Allied troops.

Following the war, he returned to Mexico with his Australian bride, Joan Alice Askwith of Bendigo, Australia who he married on Feb. 6, 1946.  To this marriage were born two sons, Rodney Alan Green, who survives in Ashland, MO., and Denis Keith (Molly) Green of Columbia, MO.  On June 14, 1952, he was married to Virginia Dale Balmer in Philadelphia, PA.  They had one son, David William (Teresa) Green of Pueblo, CO.

On December 22, 1973, he married Gladys Weigel Davis in Jefferson City, MO.  She survives at their home in Pueblo.  In addition to his three sons, Mr. Green is survived by four step-sons, Gary Davis of  Dothan, AL, Eric (Theresa) Davis of Jefferson City, MO,  Clinton (Roxanne) Davis of Fulton, MO, and Bowen Davis of the home; two stepdaughters, Cindy (Michael) Merriam of Aurora, CO and Toni (James) Compton of  Lebanon, MO.  Also, surviving are four grandchildren, Scott (Renee) Green of Portland, OR, Derek (Charlotte) Green of Fairview Heights, IL, Bryan Green of Centralia, MO, and Jeri Green of Columbia, MO; twelve step-grandchildren, Andrea Gomez of Greeley, CO, Ryan Gomez of Manhattan, NY; Gennifer Borgstedt of Pueblo, CO, Weston Ferguson of Jefferson City MO; Jennifer Davis of Bentonville, AR, Robert Davis of Harper's Ferry, WVA, Kyrah Davis of Boston, MA,  Aaron Davis of Philadelphia, PA; Austin and Zachary Davis of Jefferson City, MO, Andrew and Jessica Davis of Fulton, MO; four great-granddaughters, Hallie Green of Ontario, Canada; Kylie Green of Portland, OR; Elizabeth Green of Fairview Heights, IL and Tiffany Green of Centralia, MO; four step-great granddaughters, Raena and Sydney Ferguson of Jefferson City, MO and Tyler and Katherine Davis of Harper's Ferry, WVA.

His parents and one granddaughter, Rachael Green preceded him in death.  The family requests memorials be made in his name to the Alzheimers Association or to a charity of donor's choice.
