Hon. John I. Ellis Bollinger Co
Hon. John I. Ellis, an intelligent and enterprising young
Bollinger County, Mo., is a son of James K.P. and Margaret
James K.P. Ellis was born in Hawkins County,
Tenn., and received
a liberal education in the subscription schools.
wife is a native
of Greene County, Tenn.
After his marriage, Mr. Ellis
located in his
native county, but in 1865 purchased a farm in Bollinger County,
which he removed his family.
They are the parents of
viz.: William, John I., James F., George F., Mary E., S.E. and
John I was born in Hawkins County, Tenn., and being but four
age when his parents moved to Missouri, has been reared in
His education, which was begun in the public
finished at the Carleton Institute, Farmington, Mo.
finishing his literary education, he began the study of law,
has since abandoned and chosen the profession of medicine; and
accordingly has attended two courses of lectures at the St. Louis
College of Physicians and Surgeons.
In politics he is
Democratic, and cast his first vote for Hancock.
1886 he was elected
Representative to the Legislature from Bollinger. [p.
