Millington N. Kinder Bollinger Co Mo Biography
  • Millington N. Kinder was born in Bollinger County, Mo., July 5, 1842. His parent, Absalom and Louisa (McMinn) Kinder, were married in 1836, and are the parents of two children, who are living. Absalom Kinder was a native of North Carolina, and a farmer, who immigrated to Missouri with his parents. He died in 1847, after which his widow, a native of Southeast Missouri, born in 1818, was married to Solomon Kittrell. She is the mother of two living children by her second marriage, and is still alive, residing in Butler County, Mo. Millington N. Kinder was reared at home, and received his education in the public schools. On April 6, 1871, he was married to Miss Margaret Dickson, a native of Wayne County, Mo., born April 1, 1851. She is a daughter of James and Sarah J. (Welch) Dickson, natives of Tennessee, born in 1813 and 1823, respectively. James Dixon was a farmer, and immigrated to Missouri with his parents when he was a boy. Mrs. Dickson's parents removed to Wayne County, Mo., when she was a child. She is still living, and is the mother of two children, who are alive. Mr. and Mrs. Kinder have six children, viz.: Marvin N., Peter B., Sarah C.L., James A., Francis M.N. and Hattie M. Mr. Kinder ahs always followed agricultural pursuits. Recently he sold a portion of his large farm, with the intention of entering into the business of raising small fruit. He and his family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. He is one of the respected citizens of the county, and is a Mason. [p. 835]
