  • LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Ann Simpson, 88, of Leopold died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. (of a heart attack)

    She was born Nov. 15, 1914, at Richwoods, Washington Co., Mo., daughter of John and Elizabeth "Sadie" Smith Stegers Shoults. She and Walter Simpson were married June 5, 1937, at Richwoods. He died May 17, 1991.

    Ann moved to Leopold in 1996 from St. Louis, where she and her husband had lived since their marriage. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.

    She loved to knit and many people were blessed by the results of her handiwork.

    Survivors include a brother, John Shoults of Springfield, Mo., and a sister, Minnie Hutchings of Leopold.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; a daughter, Lois Sodergren; a brother, Charlie Shoults, and two sisters, Mary Ramey and Margaret Anders.

    Friends may call at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo., from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

    A memorial Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Church.

    The Rev. Bill Huggins will officiate.

    Note Other records show Stegger as spelled "Steger" or "Stager. Sadie was adopted by Joseph Steger upon his marriage to Elizabeth Flanagan.
