MASTERSON CEMETERY From Cape Girardeau take Perryville Road to the Jaycee's Golf Course. The first road immediately on the right is called Cypress Road. Turn on it. and travel 0.3 miles to a cut in the bluff (hill). Pull to the right side of the curb. Climb the hill and there are a few remaining stones children have not vandalized. It is a prime target every winter as children knock down the stones and slide down the embankment on them. The following people have been recreated from known burials from family, the broken stones at the bottom of Cypress Road, and the few remaining markers. There are several unmarked graves and the area has been used for four wheel all terrain vehicles. The Cemetery Protection Association of Southeast Missouri has this on the top ten endangered rural cemeteries and as funds become available it is hoped to fence it.
