DEATH CLAIMS
MRS. G. STEIN
Death early today claimed Mrs. Mary STEIN, wife of Gustave STEIN, 725 Morgan Oak street. She was a woman held in high esteem by scores of friends made during her life-long residence in Cape Girardeau. The funeral will be held Friday at an hour to be announced later.
Mrs. STEIN succumbed to hemorrhage of the brain. For a long period she had not been well, but only recently did her illiness [sic] assume serious proportions. Last Monday evening Mrs. STEIN fainted while working in her garden and after that she failed rapidly, death coming at 12:15 a.m. today.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William TRAUPE, Mrs. STEIN was born in Cape Girardeau and was 63 years five months old. In 1880 she married Mr. STEIN, then connected with the Jackson Milling company. A few years later the Steins moved to Cape Girardeau and Mr. STEIN associated himself with the Pott Flour Mills. At present he is connected with the Nu-Way Mill manufacturing company as miller and millwright. Born to the couple were three sons and two daughters. They are: Arthur and William of Cape Girardeau and Gussie, of Akron, O.; Mrs. William OAKES and Mrs. Albert KEMPE of Cape Girardeau. Four of them were with their mother when the end came and Gussie is en route from Akron.
Comments: The children of Gustav and Mary Stein are all named in the obituary. They are: Arthur C.; William C.; Gustav H., Jr.; Malinda “Linda” Stein, wife of Wilson Oakes; and Alma W. Stein, wife of Albert Kempe. Mary Stein’s mother was Wilhelmina KLAGES, wife of Wilhelm “William” Traupe. Mary Stein was also known as Dina Marie, or Marie D.
