Suddenly Ill Sunday. And Succumbs. . Mrs. Wilhelmina TRAUPE, a resident of Cape Girardeau for nearly 70 years, died at her home, corner Sprigg and Independence streets, at 10 p.m. Sunday. Death came suddenly and without a struggle. She was 90 years, three months and 28 days old.. . Throughout the day Sunday Mrs. TRAUPE was apparently in her usual good health, having cooked her own dinner, of which she partook with her usual good appetite. She also ate supper Sunday night as usual, retiring about 7:30 p.m.. . . Born in Germany she crossed to the United States in 1852, coming direct to Cape Girardeau. The following year she was married to William TRAUPE, who preceded her in death 27 years ago.. . Mrs. TRAUPE spent practically all of her life after coming to America in the brick house at the corner of Sprigg and Independence streets. During the Civil war, while her husband was away battling for the federal government, Mrs. TRAUPE offered her home to the Union forces for a hospital and it was accepted, she moving into a smaller house adjoining it on the south.. . . Mrs. TRAUPE is survived by two children, Mrs. Gus STEIN and Mrs. John SCHMIDT of this city; one brother, Christian KLAGES, of this city; seven grandchildren – Mrs. Henry BANGERT of Gordonville, Gus SCHMIDT, Mrs. Linda OAKS, Mrs. Albert KEMPE and Arthur and William STEIN of Cape Girardeau and Gus STEIN, Jr. of Akron, Ohio; seven great grand-children – Alma BANGERT of Gordonville, Leona GROSS, Harry, Katherine and Weldon STEIN and Ivan OAKS all of Cape Girardeau.. . The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon, services to be conducted at Trinity Lutheran church at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. F.H. MELZER. Burial will be in Lorimier cemetery. Comments: Mrs. Gus STEIN was Mary D. TRAUPE. Mrs. John SCHMIDT was Wilhelmina TRAUPE. Two children of Wilhelmina (KLAGES) TRAUPE who predeceased her were Emilie TRAUPE and August TRAUPE, both of whom died in 1884. The parents of Wilhelmina (KLAGES) TRAUPE were Christoph KLAGES and Elisabeth VORNKAL.
