Edward Williams Fri Apr 18 21:57:17 1997
</B> My grandfather's name was Silas Ephraim Becket Wiliams. He had a brother named Robert Madison Williams. He also had three sisters, named Ester, Sallie, and Kate. Their father's name was Thomas Becket Williams. Thomas Williams had a brother named Falkland Hubert Williams. Thomas and Falkland Williams father's name was Silas Williams, and he was married to Nancy (Adams) Williams. My greatgrandfather Thomas Becket Williams was apparently a schoolteacher in Benton, Illinois. While he was in Benton, Illinois he joined the General John A. Logan Regiment and fought in the Union Army. His brother Falkland had also fought in the Civil but apparently fought on the Confederate side. After the Civil war ended Thomas Becket Williams became either a deputy sheriff or Sheriff of Jefferson County or a nearby county. The entire Williams family originally left from South Carolina in about 1803. Any information to confirm the above would be appreciated.
