Mo. and was there they think till poss. 1852, the family has that Tilitha died March 27, 1854 when she gave birth to thier son. She is buried in Dade County, Mo. where they came to after leaving Cape Girardeau, Co. We have but very few books here in our library, but we did find the one marriage book that showed when John Shrum married Tilitha Thomasson. The family of John Shrum first shows up in the Dade County Census in 1860: John age 38, b. Mo.; Elizabeth age 34 Ky; Ann age 17, b. Mo; Jacob age 16,Mo. Caroline age 12,Mo.; Ephraim age 9, Mo; Elkanah age 6,Mo.; Rosa A age 5, Mo.; Catherine age 3,Mo.; Joseph age 1, Mo. We know from what the family has that Ann, Jacob, Ephraim, and Elkanah are not the children of Elizabeth, but the children of Tilitha. We also know that John's father was German and that the name has went through at least 3 changes, the last two which are Schrum, and Shrum.
