My Great-Grandparents were James Monroe Kelley, born 1856, died aprrox. 1915, and Mary Elizabeth (Pitchford) Kelley. Both born in IL, moved to Dunklin County, MO. Mary died in 1885. They had three children, John Monroe, Charles Newton (my Grandfather-born 1880, died 1957, married my Grandmother, Lillie May Moore who was born in Gibson, MO, born 1887, died 1960) and Nancy Anne Kelley. James second wife was Martha Josie Davidson King Kelley Murphy. James M. Kelley is buried in North Canaan Cemetery. He built the first log cabin South Canaan Baptist Church in 1889. Peter D. Schaffer donated the logs for the church. This structure was torn down and re-built in 1947. There is a Bible that was owned by the Schaffer Family which had written info on the Kelley/Pitchford family. If anyone knows about this Bible and the Kelley, Pitchford, Moore Family, please let me
know. Also if there is Native American blood in these families.

Name: Teresa Hunt <thunt1157@yahoo.com>
Date: 2007-10-18
SURNAMES: MITCHELL
Comments:
My great-grandfather, James Henry MITCHELL was bon Dec 31, 1851 in MO. According to a source it was in Genva, Dunklin County. I have looked and can not find a town called Genva. The source also said that his father E. Mitchell was born in MO about 1831 and died in 1898, I am assuming also in MO. I have his mother being a Martha last name unknown.
James left MO and married Sarah Bright of Arkansas in 1890. They had 4 sons and 4 daughters. James died March 20. 1906 in Perry, County Arkansas.
If anyone can tell me more about this family I would appreciate it. Was there ever a Genva, MO?

Thank you,
Teresa
