Name: Tess Davidson-Malta <cherry106060@aol.com>
Date: 2007-09-27
SURNAMES: DAVIDSON
Comments:
I am trying to locate anyone who might have any information on the Davidson family, who lived around Holcomb Island, Freeborn and Gibson at (and before) the turn of the century. Jonas George Davidson was a farmer and a Methodist preacher who started the Old Gravel Hill Church in Gibson. His oldest son, William Henry Davidson was also a farmer and was married several times. One of William's sons, Aaron Arthur Davidson worked as a street commisioner for the county and also worked in a grocery store. Several of the family are buried at Canaan, Stanfield, Hornersville and other cemeteries in the area. Several of them were also Methodist ministers. Jonas was the younger brother to my GGgrandfather, Thomas J.Davidson, who was a Methodist clergy in Wayne County, before the Civil War. Jonas and his brother Harvey came to Dunklin County in 1858, after their brother-in-law, Rev. John Henry Wade was put in charge of the Grand Prairie District of the Methodist Church. I would love to hear from anyone who might know anything at all about these families, the old Gravel Hill Church or anything else that might help me. Thank You.

Comments:
I am researching my great grandfather James P. Ragsdale who
was a photographer in Campbell, MO in the early 1900s.
His son, Karney Orben Ragsdale, was my grandfather and was
born in Campbell, MO. I am also seeking copies of any photographs individuals may have which are stamped on the
back, "James Ragsdale, photographer." It appears that James
was a professional photographer and stamped the photos he took on the back. Many thanks.
