Dunklin, Co Missouri Queries & Surnames

Name: Lynn Marlene Paul <lpaul@excelsiorsoftware.com>
Date: 2002-03-19
SURNAMES: Surname: Paul
Comments:
Searching info on Luther A. Paul and Nora Humphrey. Son: Jess or Jesse Herbert Paul, b. Malden, Dunklin Co., Missouri, Oct 23, 1923--I am hoping this is the lead I have been waiting for to obtain geneology/family history information for my son's Paternal Family. My Son, Jess Loyal Paul's father is William Raymond Paul. His Father name: Jess Paul (middle name, i hope is Herbert since his is the only SSN death listing I have come across for Jess Paul). Jess worked as a carpenter by trade. He once owned land in Roswell, New Mexico. In his later years he lived in or around Spokane, Washington and lived or was treated at a Catholic Hospital or Convent Mission there. the SSN info i sent for places him in or around Ventura, California at his death if i am understanding the printout correctly.

William Raymond Paul was born Dec 15, 1957 in St. Louis Missouri, but since I do not know what alias his mother was using at that time, I cannot write and request a copy of birth certificate without that info.

Since Jess's Father, William Raymond Paul, has chosen over last 16 1/2 years of Jess's life to sever what little ties there were, this search is very difficult.

I once was shown by Bill (William)'s Mom, Shirley Paul (aka Shirley Dana, Shirley Hill, Norma Jean Thorpe)a picture of Bill's Dad, Jess. Bill is pretty much a spittin image of Jess as Jess Loyal is a spittin image of Bill.

Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I wrote off for some copies from microfiche of obits dated 1907 with last name of Paul, but that was lost cause at this point because Jess was born appx 1923 and these folks died in 1907, BUT ONE CAN HOPE.

At same time I asked for copy of birth announcement for Bill for Dec 15, 1957 but of course would not have been that day and may not even have been in paper. I plan to write back and request copies of the birth announcement section of ST. LOUIS DISPATCH for from Dec. 16 through end of month of 1957 in hope it was there but they might not have actually lived in St. Louis and may have only been announced in local paper where they did live.

If ANYONE could help, it would be greatly appreciated because Jess Loyal Paul, b. Oct 15, 1985 deserves to at least know his family history. His father has since legally changed his last name so Jess is the only of Bill's three legal that i know of Sons still carrying the Paul surname. His oldest Son, Michael, was adopted at young age. His youngest Son, Bret, took Bill's new legal name change and then following the divorce between Bill and Bret's Mom, Bret was adopted by stepfather.

Thank you
Lynn Marlene Case Paul

My paternal great grandfather was James Ragsdale. He married Mary Jones. One of their children was Karney Orben Ragsdale who was born on December 15, 1906 in Campbell, MO. Karney may have been married three times. One of his wives was Ellen Vernie Thompson. Name: Kay Dement <kgtdement@aol.com>
Date: 2002-03-12
SURNAMES: DEMENT
Comments:
My father-in-law is H.W. Dement (Haskel Williams). He said that his father's name was also Haskel and his mother's name was Cora.

He does not know (and what he claims -- none of the family does) who is grandparents were. He said his daddy refused to talk about his parents.

There was an Uncle George who was his father's brother.

He was raised in Holcomb Missouri. Haskel Sr was born around 1884.

Any information you may have would be appreciated. I have hit a brick wall with this family.

Thanks!

In the early 1800's, my grandfather and some of his sisters migrated to Dunklin Co., Mo. and were probably tenant farmers there. His eldest sister, Rozelah Wright Mason, 5/4/1862 - 7/7/1909, was buried in Nesbitt Cemetery, near Senath, Mo. Grandfathers name was William Jesse Wright. Sisters were Mrs. Frank (Ada) Chrissenberry (Christenberry)and Ida G. (Wright) Martin.
Am wondering if there are any descendents still in that area?
