SURNAMES: | ELDER |
Comments: | William Henry ELDER and William Wesley ELDER both at times took their families from Wayne County to Dunklin County to pick cotton. Would like to know where Fronia Catherine (Katie) Marler is buried (I heard Cude Cemetery) and Martha Anne (Annie) Elder is buried and death dates. Katie died about 1978 and Annie about 1920. Because Katie Marler is supposed to buried in Cude, I thought perhaps, Martha Anne or Annie Elder, might be buried in the same place. |

Name: | Paula Bailey Canham <Bobbyz80@aol.com> |
Date: | 2002-02-03 |
SURNAMES: | BAILEY, THROWER, BRANTLY |
Comments: | My grandfather, Van Brantly Bailey, was born in Kennett on Jan. 2, 1893. He died in Ariz. in 1959. My grandmother and he were married in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1918. They divorced a few years later, and, as a result, my father and uncle never were told much about their father. Van states on his marriage application that his mother's maiden name was Thrower and he lists his father as dead and does not give a name. He says his mother is Lucy Tucker who was living in Blytheville,Ark.at the time of the application. Both parents were born in Mo. I have an old photo of what I believe to be Kennett in the late 1880's showing a building with "City Hotel-- M.S. Bailey" on it with "Tatum and Bros." storefront below it. M.S. Bailey is listed as a tax payer in 1893in the Dunklin Democrat. Also, in the paper is an ad saying that "the Laden Hotel property is for sale." Is it this hotel? What happened to the Bailey's and Throwers? In 1915 Van wrote his mother saying that he was going to visit "Aunt Lydia in Kennett". Who was she? Lydia wrote a note to Lucy as "Dear Sister" and signed as "Lydia B." Any help in finding Van's parents and hopefully some kinfolk would be deeply appreciated. Please contact me by e-mail at Bobbyz80@aol.com Paula |

Comments: | John Kuykendall and Mary F. Eubanks were married in Hardeman Co. in Jan 01,1880. Between 1880 and 1900 I have lost them. I don't know what happened to them by 1920, Gibson and Madison Co. was the last I could find 1900-1910. Hopefully this will somehow lead me to my Grand Mother Lue E. Kuykendall and her marriage to William Parker. I have been told by Kuykendall researchers that John C. and Mary F. Eubanks Kuykendall were in MO, very possibly Dunklin Co. Thank You, Bob Parker |
