Dunklin County, Missouri

  • Dunklin County was formed in 1845 from Stoddard County;
    the county seat is
Four Mile in Dunklin County Mo

  • Four Mile one of the earliest settlements - population decreased when the merchants started moving down towards the railroad tracks in what is now Campbell - was given the name because it was at one time 4 miles from various transporation lines (however, today I find this hard to believe since it was supposedly 4 miles from the railroad and 4 miles from he river but neither is that far away now and was not then so who knows what the real truth about the name was)
