Steve DodsonThu Apr 3 18:59:48 1997 My name is Steve Dodson and I am really trying to trace my family heritage at least back to and through the Civil War. I would be very greatful for any help you may provide. All the names I am going to list were either born, raised, or lived in the Iron county area. DODSON, Charles Euel is my father, he was born 27 Aug 1926 to Charles Joseph DODSON born 5 June 1900, died around 1960 and barried in Annapolis MO, and the Former Almetta SUTTON born 22 Feb 1905 in Vulcan MO I believe, died around 1968, also barried in Annapolis MO. He is the son of George DODSON who died when my father was about three years old. His wife my mother believes was Bell Dolan/Bolan, But he is not sure since she also died when he was about three. Where and when they were born is a mistery, but they did live around the Vulcan/Annapolis area. My Grandmother the former Almetta SUTTON is the daughter of James Joseph SUTTON born 7 Aprl 1856, died 24 Aug 1929, in the Vulcan MO area. His father was William SUTTON born 7 Sept 1836, died 24 March 1863, and his mother was the former Stacey Cathrian RUBLE born 15 Feb 1836, and died 26 Feb 1907. The little bit of family history I do have says that William SUTTON and the former Stacey Cathrian RUBLE were married on 1 July 1855 and that they cleared some land about 1 1/2 miles north of Vulcan, where they lived all their lives. It also states that a community began to grow up, centered around the home of William and Cathrian SUTTON. It states that there was a cemetary called the SUTTON Cemetery in which a good percent of the RUBLES descendants are buried. The Cemetery is supposedly still used by the SUTTON, Alcorn, and RUBLE families. Any help you can give me in determining more about my heritage would be appreciated. I am especially interested in how they and their families sided, and served during the Civil War. Thanks for your help in advance. Steve DODSON

Wayne Carroll Thu Feb 27 11:23:18 1997 To whom it may concern: I have just begun to do my family history and this looks like a good place to start. I see one surname that belongs in my family history. That is the name of Crabtree. However there are many others that do not appear on your list. My Mothers maiden name is Morgan. Her Dad's name was John Thomas Morgan. His Das was William Greene Morgan and is buried at the Antioch Cemetary in Hartshorn. However, William Greene Morgan's Tombstone says William Henry Morgan. Don't know how that mistake was made. Other family surnames are: Barlet, Gale, Stark, Tindle, Boyd, Pursifull. There are others still, and most of the persons buried at the Antioch cemetary could be and should be related. I have a Cousin named Alida Holt that has been doing her family history for fourteen years. She lives in Success, Missouri with her husband James Raymond Holt. William Greene Morgan and his family moved into Missouri from Tennessee. He came with his Father Joel and his Mother Patsy 'Runnel' Morgan They brought Sarah bd 6-6-1826, Henry bd 2-26-1828, Ellender bd 12-4-1831, Mary J. bd 1-28-1833, William Greene bd 6-22-1838, and John S. Morgan bd 8-27-1841. They all came to Missouri from Tennessee. I hope that this will give you some place to start and I think this internet things is helping a lot. Hope to hear from someone soon. Sincerly Yours, Wayne Caroll.
