BOLAN, DODSON, DOLAN, RUBLE, SUTTON posted by Steve Dodson on Thursday, April 3, 1997

My name is Steve Dodson and I am really trying to trace my family heritage at least back to and through the Civil War. I would be very greatful for any help you may provide. All the names I am going to list were either born, raised, or lived in the Iron county area. DODSON, Charles Euel is my father, he was born 27 Aug 1926 to Charles Joseph DODSON Born 5 June 1900, died around 1960 and barried in Annapolis MO, and the Former Almetta SUTTON born 22 Feb 1905 in Vulcan MO I believe, died around 1968, also barried in Annapolis MO. He is the son of George DODSON who died when my father was about three years old. His wife my father believes was Bell DOLAN /BOLAN, but he is not sure since she also died when he was about three. Where and when they were born is a mistery, but they did live around the Vulcan/Annapolis area. My Grandmother the former Almetta SUTTON is the daughter of James Joseph SUTTON born 7 April 1856, died 24 Aug 1929, in the Vulcan MO area. His father was William SUTTON born 7 Sept 1836, died 24 March 1863, and his mother was the former Stacey Cathrian RUBLE born 15 Feb 1836, and died 26 Feb 1907. The little bit of family history I do have says that William SUTTON and the former Stacey Cathrian RUBLE were married on 1 July 1855 and that they cleared some land about 1 1/2 miles north of Vulcan

BYRD, SHAVER posted by Kenneth Byrd on Friday, April 18, 1997

BYRD - any/all information on my gg-grandparents, William Carrol BYRD (b. ~1816 Stewart Co. TN) and Margaret Elizabeth BYRD (b.~ 1830 place?) listed in the 1860 census for Brunot, SE Iron Co. MO. Questions: what was her maiden surname? When/where did she die after March, 1863 and where is she buried? Was one of their sons, Andrew Jackson BYRD (b. 1857) actually born in Pilot Knob, MO as per his death certificate filed in Fredericksburg, Texas? Why did an Iron Co. J.P., D.W. SHAVER, first buy their land in 1860 and then sell it back to them for one dollar in March of 1863 - was Wm. Carrol BYRD a Confederate soldier or what, exactly? Any/all help very (!!!) greatly appreciated!!! - Kenneth BYRD, Indianapolis
