Died in this city Fri night Oct 8th Sarah Belle, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Richard Phelan, aged 8 years.

Mr. Augustus Eiceman died at his residence in this city Saturday night Oct 9th aged 71 yr 9 mo and 4 days. He was buried at the Denhart graveyard the following day.

Died at the residence of his parents at Bird’s Point on Friday Oct 8th, Harry, son of Mr. And Mrs. Wm Counts, aged 3 yrs. The remains were brought to this city the following day and interred in the St Mary’s graveyard, 1 mile north of the city.

Joe Everett was licked near his home in Madrid Bend last Sat night by a man named Moss. The affair originated over a game of craps. Both participants emptied their pistols at each other at close range ­ about 2 ft. Everett was hit by three bullets, and lived about an hour. It is not known whether Moss was hurt or not, as he escaped with two companions and has not been captured.

Tom Williams and Miss Lee Hendricks, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. I. B. Hendricks, were married Friday night, Oct 8th at the residence of John and Henry Ransburg, ‘Squire Peter Hoehn officiating.

Marriage certificate issued Oct 7th to Richard LaPlant and Miss Martha M. Thomas.

Mr. And Mrs. Ralph Meatte went to Caruthersville last Monday on business. Stewart items:

Died, child of Mr. And Mrs. Fred Brasswell.

T. B. Hampton killed last Tues afternoon in the woods near Davis saw mill in Pemiscot Co., 6 miles below Portageville on the Gayoso Rd,. He was engaged in hauling logs for the mill and was in the woods assisting the driver of the log team to load a log. Near by was a sapling upon which a tree had fallen and partially broken down. Mr. Hampton was standing near, when suddenly the sapling was released, and a portion of it flew back and struck him on the side of the back to the right of the spine knocking him down. And producing death in a bout 15 min. The deceased’s family who live on Riddle’s point in this county were notified and went to the scene of the accident. The body was taken to Lake Co., the former home of the deceased for internment.

Charles Cissell of Morehouse, died Oct 8th aged 60 years.

Mrs. Anna M. Ransburgh, relict of the late John L. Ransburgh, died at her residence three miles west of this city, wed. Oct 20th aged 51 yr. 5 mo and 8days. The remains were interred in te family burial ground today.

Eustach DeLisle a young man about 21 years of age was hurt at DeLisle’s gin at Portageville this morning about 8 o’clock. His arm got caught in the fan of the elevator and his hand and part of his arm was cut off. Dr. Watson went down to attend the young man as he was in danger of bleeding to death.
