Died at the residence of P. J. Pikey, 8 miles below New Madrid on Monday

Nov 1. Mrs. Martha A. Butler, aged 63 years. The remains were interred in the New Hope cemetery, Friday.

In Pascolo, On the night of Oct 28th, about 9 o’clock, Ben Gurden shot and instantly killed Mrs. Charles Turner. On the day of the killing,

Gurden and Jack Baldwin had a difficulty. Baldwin was residing with Mrs, Turner and Gurden went to the house, and called out. Mrs. Turner answered the call, and when she opened the door, Gurden, thinking she was Baldwin fired a load of buckshot into her, producing death instantly. Gurden is a widower with four small children. He is small in stature, weighting 130 lb with a heavy sandy mustache. Sheriff Pierce and posse of Pemiscot county were in hot pursuit of Gurden at last accounts.

Mrs. Harry Green and children of Cairo are visiting Mrs. Green’s parents Mrs and Mrs. A. C. Laforge.

Miss Lou Emory and Mr James Baker both prominent young people of Sikeston were married Oct 27,

J. W. Jackson, Jr. arrived at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Jackson Friday morning Oct. 29th , mother and infant doing well.
