Miss Anna LaForge of New Madrid is visiting her kinsfolk, Mr. And Mrs. A. C. LaForge os this city this week ­ Caruthersville press.

The grand jury refused to indite Mrs. Fannie Moore, the young woman who recently shot and killed her stepfather, W. W. Williams, a prominent citizen of James Bayou twp., whom she accused of ruining her life (from Charleston news).

A. J. Sellars was married at Kennett on the 14th to Mrs. Eva Walker. Mr Sellars is a prominent lawyer of this place. And Mrs. Walker was the widow of the late lamented Congressman, James Walker (from Caruthersville Press).

Deputy U. S. Marshal Fox of St. Louis, arrived in this city Tuesday night and Wed. morning left for Poplar Bluff, accompanied by E. L. Pope, better known as "Happy Jack" charged with selling whiskey at picnics (Caruthersville Press.)

J. T. Wells of this place has been appointed assistant secretary of the swamp land commission. (Dunklin Democrat)

J. M. Green killed Henry Dickerson with a hoe near Dexter last week.

Mr. James Rodgers and daughter Katie and Mrs. Hess, of Sikeston were the guests of Mrs. R. H. Hatcher last Saturday. Miss Rogers will remain here and learn the milliner’s art under Mrs. Hatcher.

J. W. Townsend, a contractor of Kennett, was the successful bidder for the contract for building our two school houses.

Lewis, Robert, killed last Monday afternoon at the Mill fo the Cottonwood Lumber Co.. He was standing on the log carrier. The deceased was an industrious hard working deserving young man and his death is much deplored. He leaves a wife and small child. His remains were interred in New Hope cemetery Tuesday.

Mrs. John A. Hummel’s home was the site of a lawn party given by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church.. The program included Duet ­ Piano and Cornet, Miss Linda Mae Davis and MR. Isham Tuft.

News from New Hope church

Will, 14 year old son of W. Butler, living on Mrs. Barnes farm was thrown from a mule.

R. J. Waters has retired frm the grocery business and his stock will be sold out at cheap prices.
