The marriage of R. H. Stanley, Jr. Formerly of Malden now in the mercantile business at Poplar Bluff, to Miss Septa Quinn occurred in that city Aug 18.

Mrs. A. G. Mathewson and daughter Miss Mabel left Monday for Farmington where Miss Mabel will enter school.

Richard Waters will attend Barnes Business College in St. Louis and take a thorough business course, including type writing and stenography.

Born Friday morning Aug 17 to Mr. And Mrs. C. L. Mitchell, a 10 lb boy.

Mrs. T. H. Allen of St. Joseph is visiting her parents., Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Hunter.

Mrs. Frankie Leonard has returned to her home at Chicago., after a pleasant visit with her sister, Mrs. W. C. Newsum.

Married at the office of Squire Joel Cook in this city, Aug. 26th, Oscar Whiteside and Ella Gresham of Sikeston.

Mrs. Sallie Watson came over from Malden Saturday to spend a few days with her daughter Mrs. C. L. Mitchell.

Death of the wife of Judge J. L. Downing, that occurred on Monday at their home in Malden. She is L. C. of the L. O. T. M. at that place and was a most estimable lady.

Frank Basham, aged about 13 years, and Frank Pierce, about the same age, quarreled last night about 10 o’clock in front of Sheehy’s saloon. A fight ensued, during which young Basham stabbed Pierce in the left breast, just about the heart, penetrating the lung. The chances are against the boy’s recovery.

Died at his home on Dry Bayou, Tues. Aug 31. William B. Hubbard, aged 59. The deceased was taken sick about 4 o’clock am with a congestive chill and at half past nine died before medical aid arrived. He was a widower, his wife having died last April leaving five children. Mr. Hubbard was a member of one of the oldest families in the county being a son of William Hubbard, who died about 2 years ago at an old age.

Died at his home August 24th Mr. West Ewell of typhoid pneumoniae. He leaves a wife and four children. His body was entered in the Griffith graveyard.
