Born in this city Saturday Morning Oct 15, to Mr. And Mrs. Jack Ferguson, a son.

A man named Jas. Hennessey who was employed as watchman on the quarter-boat for the government fleet here, was drowned last Sunday night. The steamer Rowena Lee landed alongside two barges to discharge some freight.,,, the watchman had been accustomed to stepping from one barge to the other and in attempting to do so again, not noticing the wide space, he was precipitated into the cold wasters of the Mississippi. He was never seen again, and up to the time of this writing his body has not been recovered. Mr. Hennessy was a single man about 50 years old with no known relatives in this country, and claimed Memphis as his residence.
