John Lewis, barkeeper for H C. Judge, died Tues morn at the residence of Mrs. Josephine Jones where he and his wife were boarding. He had been suffering since Thur last from alcoholism and the disease failed to succumb to the treatment of physicians. The deceased was about 40 years of age and a resident of Hickman KY where his mother resides. The remains were taken in charge by undertake CB Ricards and Wed morn were shipped to Hickman for burial. Mr. Lewis was a jovial fellow but his greatest fault was his uncontrollable passion for that demon  strong drink.

The death of Mrs. Oscar Depron during the night was a very sad affair. She retired in perfect health and spirits but when her husband awoke the next morning he found the companion of his life cold in death, caused by heart failure. She was aged about 31 years and leaves besides a heart broken husband and five children, her mother and several brothers and sisters viz: IA Ewing, ATM Ewing, Mrs. Dennis Henry and Mrs. Stephen St. Mary of this county and Mrs. Jesse Moore and Jack Ewing of Texas. The remains were interred in the St. Mary graveyard on the 17th inst.
