Heloise J Mott, her pure sweet spirit left the mortal clay that bound it and was peacefully wafted to the Great Beyond. On Tuesday morning Mars 8th at 12:30 o’clock.. She being 66 years 8 months, and 1 day old.. ... The deceased was the last surviving child of Robert G and Zelia G. Waggener; they and her brothers, James, Franklin and Edwin, and Mrs. Virginia V. Waters, her sister having preceded her to eternal live many years since. She was the wife of John A. Mott, who survives her and the mother of five living children, Mrs. Henry E. Broughton, Laura, May, Louis, Richard, and Robert Mott. Two children, Zelia and Kate died in their infancy. ... The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church at 2 o’clock pm Wednesday and were conducted by Rev. Father Furlong. ...

John Clarahan and Miss Rosie Wylie, daughter of Henderson Wylie of Riddle’s Point were married at the residence of the bride’s father on Thursday last Mar 3rd.

Dr. Oscar E Walder aged 66 years died at the residence of Mrs. Adaline Fox, Sunday last Mar 6th at 8coclocl pm Mr. Walder had been a resident of our city for about 45 years and was at one time in the mercantile business and was sales man for Joseph Weigle a long time. Of late years he has been out of any lucrative business and was a poor man when he died. He was a graduate of medicine but never practiced his profession here. He came from Evansville, Ind to this place about 1853 and has since resided here. His wife died about ten years ago. They left no children. His body has been embalmed by undertaker Richards and is at his establishment awaiting instructions for its disposition. Dr. Walker has a nephew at Evansville who is a practicing physician and he has been telegraphed to in regard to the burial of the remains.

Among the relatives of the late Mrs. Mott who came to attend the funeral were noticed: Mr and Mrs. R. S. Mott, Mrs and Mrs. Jeff Alexander and Percy Mott of Pt. Pleasant; James Mott, Union city, Alfred McDonnell, of Hickman; Mr and Mrs R. H. Allen and Miss Susie Eastwood of Malden

A Negro Assaults Constable Henderson.
A cowardly assault was made upon Constable Shade Henderson in the rear room of Judge’s saloon about 8 o’clock Monday night. Mr. Henderson had gone to the rear of the saloon and was returning through the negro department when Jim Morris, the negro barkeeper approached him from behind and struck him over the head with a tall stool knocking him senseless and cutting a long gash on the top of his head, He also received a cut on the li and his nose was skinned, supposedly to have been done by the negro kicking him after he fell. ....
