Malden and Kennett are now connected by telephone thought the line is not in good working order. The fault lies in the Kennett side of the line.

R. J. Gabriel of Kennett and Miss Josephine Stewart , daughter of George A. Stewart of Fredericktown were married June 8th.

Lulu, aged 5 years, daughter of Mr. And Mrs Dick Ray, near Paw Paw, died yesterday about 10 oclock and was buried at the Mound cemetery today.

George Remley and Laura Willisams, both of St. John township were married in this city yesterday by Squire Hoehn.

Jesse Crouch, aged 11 years, stepson of Charles Crouch, living near Slough landing, ten miles above her was drowned in the Mississippi last Saturday afternoon. He went in bathing alone, and it is presumed was accidentally drowned. Not coming home at night, search was made for him and his clothing was found on the bank of the river. Tuesday morning his body was found by a flat-boatman at the mouth of t St. John Bayouk, just above this city. C. B. Richards took charge of the remains and notified his relatives, who came over and took them over the river, leaving here at 1 oclock am Wednesday.

EL Burton, erstwhile school teacher, preacher, and not a medical practioner without first registering, a resident of Pt. Pleasant, has been arrested for practicing medicine illegally. His trial will be held before Squire Cook on June 24th and the punishment if convicted is a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $500 or imprisonment in the county jai for not less than 30 or more tan 365 days, or by both fine and imprisonment.
