Married at the Methodist parsonage, by Rev. J. T. Tracy, Friday Feb 2, 1900, Frank Phillips of LaForge, and Miss Earlie Childers of t. Pleasant.

The marriage of Mr. Floyd Sharp and Miss Mabel Barnes was solemnized last Wednesday morning at the Presbyterian church,, Rev. Tracy officiating. .. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Barnes, and her many gifts of heart and brain have greatly endeared her to young and old, and New Madrid loses one of its brightest social ornaments.
The groom is a very promising young lawyer with a nice practice at Blair, Neb. A town of about 3,500 inhabitants, where they will reside. His father is a lawyer at Dexter, Iowa.
The bride was attired in a stylish going away gown of castor covert, made with close fitting coat with front and stock of violet silk, the skirt was made scalloped tunic; castor hat trimmed in violets; bouquet of long stemmed bride roses.
The pretty little church, so well adapted to such occasions, was artistically done in festoons of decorative evergreens, palms and other ornamental plants. Miss Barnes entered the church on the arm of her father, Mr. Sharp was accompanied by the brides mother and Mr and Mrs. Chas Barnes and MR. Willie Barnes were in the rear. The wedding march was played by Miss Cora Barnes. Immediately after the ceremony, Mr. And Mrs. Sharp departed for their home at Blair.

Bentley Stone, C. C. of the W. O. W. at Portageville, informed us that the monument for the grave of the lat Dr. Forsyth is expected to arrive soon, and that the ceremony of unveiling it will occur to which the public as well as neighboring camps, will be invited to attend.

The city will no longer be at any expense taking care of small pox patients, the council having so ordered Monday night. There are no city patients now in the pest tents; the five who are there having been sent up from near Pt. Pleasant. The disease is abating.
