Mrs. Phil. LeSieur and her brother Charles Miller, of Hardinsburgh, Ky arrived Sunday to visit their sick sister, Mrs. J. R. Parks.

Mrs. Jewell, mother of Mrs. Louis Powell, died at the latters residence in Bessemer, Mch. Wed Mar. 28, She was stricken with paralysis on Monday previous.

Ben Dockery died at his home, north of Portageville, Saturday night Mar 31. He was about 40 years of age and a good citizen. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and was buried under the auspices of Big Tree Camp at Portageville on Monday last.

Leroy Lafont, the keeper of the poor house in this city died Monday night last. He had a complication of diseases and for a week before his death had the hiccoughs. He was 52 years of age and leaves aa wife and seven children. The remains were interred in the graveyard on the Mitchell Meatte farm, north of Portageville.

We are sorry indeed to note the death of Mrs. R. C. Atkinson who leaves a husband two sons and a daughter to mourn his demise. The deceased was 56 years of age and of a strong constitution which rapidly gave way to a brief spell of pneumonia. (Scrub Ridge items)

Elijah Moore who killed his father Rev. Jesse Moore near Dexter Nov 15th last was sentenced to be hanged May 18.

While returning Mar 23d from a neighbors, Mrs. John W. Wheeler wife of a farmer near Hall Station Mo fell dead in the road. Her two little girls remained with her two hours until discovered . They did not know she was dead.
