Information requested for obituaries. Who, where , what was the matter, age, name in full, name of parents, of what church was deceased a member; how long a citizen of this county, where from; if married give maiden name of wife names of children when and where buried, but do not send poetry or an eulogy. .... The very reason that the obituary notices usually furnished by preachers contain so few facts and so much eulogy and sermon is the reason few country papers care to publish them. (Kennett Democrat)

Public School commencement. (Gives a review of the program) Mentions miss Bessie Jones, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Arthur Jones. Addie Lee was valedictorian.

M. W. Hubbard, an old citizen and merchant of Clarkton, died May 23. He had been a resident Dunklin Co. since 1861. He had recently taken out $2000 life insurance, the first he had ever taken.

Jimmie Chaffin, a young boy of the Middleburg neighborhood, shot and killed John Cronan, a brother in law of Forest Page, deceased Wednesday night. The Cronan gang had some trouble with old man Chaffin and were coming to his home to give him a whipping. The young boy Chaffin met them at the front door and told john Cronan not to come further. He had a double barreled shot gun in his hands and Cronan kept on coming. He then told him repeatedly to stop and the boy fired both barrels of the gun at him, killing him instantly (Caruthersville press)
