Constable Wilson of Big Prairie twp. Brought down Murray Allen Saturday and placed hi min jail. He having killed Emmett Jackson last Friday on the public road near Sikeston. It appears that they had been at outs for some time and Jackson went to Sikeston that day and on returning home, met Allen in the road, when a quarrel ensured after which Jackson left hi m and started on down the road whereupon Allen shot him in the back killing him instantly. .... Both parties are colored....

RichburgSwilley. Married at the home of the bride 10 miles south west of New Madrid on wed evening by Rev. Jones of Pt. Pleasant. Mr. Welton Richbur of New Madrid and Miss Susie Swilley, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. S. J. Swilley. The groom is one of our most deserving and popular young men and has a position with Mann Bros of this city. The bride is one of New Madrid Countys beautiful and accomplished young ladies and for several terms has successfully taught school in the different districts of the county. The young people have rented and furnished the cottage of Mrs. Neill on Church St. which they will occupy at once.

Mrs. Mary R. Gray returned Tuesday from Caruthersville where she spent several weeks visiting her sister Mrs. Judge Farris.

Married May 31 1900 at the residence of Percilla Murphy by Joel Cook, J. P., James Brandenburg and Lidia Cormack of LeSieur Twp.

Mrs. Ennie Thurston and three children left Saturday for Elkhorn, Indian Territory, where she will join her husband D. J. Thurston who is doing a prosperous business as a barber of that place.
