Robert D. Watson, one of the pioneer settlers in that part of Kentucky opposite New Madrid known as Madrid Bend, died last Friday morning July 13, at the age of 75 years of congestion of the stomach, at his farm residence four miles below here on the river and the remains were interred Sat in the family burying ground. Te deceased leaves a widow and several children two of whom, Dan and Bob reside in Texas, the former being the editor of the Democrat at San Marcos. ... at his death he still owned a farm of about 200 acres, the balance, about 240 acres having caved in the river.

Mrs. L. H. Scott, of Memphis, is visiting her mother and grandmother Mrs. H. L. Jaspar and Mrs. P. E. Waters.

Father Furlong united in marriage at the catholic church Wed July 18, M. E. Toole of Campbell and Philomena McGinnis of Dexter.

Rev. J. T. Tracy was aroused from his slumbers about 11 oclock Saturday night July 14 by James Bullock and requested to perform a marriage ceremony. He went to the gate of his residence and there in a buggy was the bride and the words were pronounced that made James Bullock and Mrs. Emily Toney Nee Klein man and wife.

Died Sunday last, July 15, at 7 am of congestion Lloyd, youngest son of Mr and Mrs M. E. Barry aged 2 years, the child was only sick a few hours.

Carl Braun, aged 45 years, proprietor of Brauns hotel, Farmington is supposed to have committed suicide july 11 by drinking wood alcohol in his hotel in that city. He had been on a spree for about a week and had been arrested and put in the city calaboose b y the Marshall. He went home, drank the alcohol, locked himself in his room where he was found dead next morning.
