BUNTIN / BUNTEN / BUNTON /
BUNTING
Am searching for information on Daniel W. and Nancy BUNTIN or
above
variations. They probably moved to New Madrid in 1870's as one
daughter
Nancy Jane, was born in 1878 and they show up on the 1880 census
when
she was two years old. They had one other daughter born in New
Madrid-date unknown, but probably early 1880's. Family story
says mother
and youngest daughter died in a smallpox epidemic and several
years
later the father died in a second smallpox epidemic. The oldest
daughter
survived and was sent by train to Hot Springs Ak to live with
maternal
aunt's family when she was about 7 years old. This would make
the 2nd
epidemic in 1885. The only proof I have of families existence
there is
the 1880 census and the family bible that was taken to Arkansas
by Nancy
Jane. It states that she was born in New Madrid. Where are they
all
buried? He was a blacksmith and farmer, supposedly had a farm
that in
later years was washed away by the Mississippi river. Can't find
land
records of this. They previously had lived in Jackson, Madison
Co. TN,
had 2 little boys, both died at same time according to bible.
Would
love to find something out about this family. If anyone knows
anything
or would like more info, please e-mail me.
