Aug. 4, 1874-Feb. 17, 1964 Funeral services for John Henry Hickerson were held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1964, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Wardell, MO, with Rev. Howard Ray and Rev. Darrel Jauch officiating. Mr. Hickerson was born August 4, 1874 in Wardell, MO and died February 17, 1964 at the Memorial Hospital in Hayti, MO, at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 13 days. He had lived in Wardell his complete life and was the oldest citizen of Wardell. He was the son of the late Leonard C. and Missouri Hickerson, and was married to Jennie Ganaway in Caruthersville, MO, on May 1, 1910. Survivors include his wife, Jennie Hickerson, of the home; four sons, Dallas Hickerson, Wardell, Leonard Hickerson, Benton Harbor, MI, Theodore Hickerson, Altheimer, AR, and Rudolph Hickerson, Poplar Bluff, MO; two daughters, Mrs. J.B. Ephlin, Wardell and Mrs. Wayne Wood, Arbyrd, MO. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: P.A. Watkins, Edgar Canoy, Sibley Adams, James Baker, Melvin Byrd, and John B. Mathis. Interment was in the Rowe Cemetery, Wardell, MO, with the Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
