 Jan. 12, 1919-Jan. 27, 2008 Standard Democrat, Sikeston, MO Jan. 29, 2008 Portageville—Jasper Rene Ramsey, Jr. 89, died Jan. 27, 2008 at Pemiscot Health Systems in Hayti. Born Jan. 12, 1919, in Advance, MO, to the late Jasper and Irene Ramsey, he served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. On Jan. 15, 1946, he married Wreatha Center who preceded him in death on March 25, 2004. Also preceding him in death were one son, Danny Ramsey; two brothers, Glenn and James Ramsey; and one sister, Lovetta Ramsey. Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Connie Ramsey of Portageville; Dale and Lettie DeMay of Fenton; and Eldon and Peggy DeMay of South Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Ramsey of Portageville; one brother, Gary Ramsey, of Nashville, TN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation is at 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
