Jul. 15, 1927-Sept. 5, 1996 Mr. Chip Smith 69, of Steele, MO, formerly of Wardell, MO, died Thursday, September 5, 1996, at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, TN. Born in Steele on July 15, 1927, he was a son of the late Charles Albert and Mary Golden Severns Smith. At Blytheville, AR, in December 1949, he was united in marriage with Bernice Wilson. She preceded him in death on July 14, 1986. A daughter, Nancy Bullock, also preceded him in death on April 11, 1988. On November 2, 1990, in Piggott, AR, he married Fern Montgomery Wilson. Mr. Smith leaves his wife, Mrs. Fern Smith of Steele; a son, Chip Joseph Smith of Steele; a daughter, Darice Sheckell of Wardell; and four stepsons: Harold Gene Wilson, Gary Wilson, Dean Wilson, Don Wilson all of Wardell; one stepdaughter, Vickie Anderson of Crane, MO; two sisters: Mary Whistle of Steele, MO and Jo Alice Riddick of Cape Girardeau, MO; one brother, Isaac Smith of Beebe, AR; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 1996, at the Sam F. Hamra Community Center in Steele with Brother John Flowers officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with arrangements by Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Chris Anderson, Bill Crabtree, Gary Tucker, Gene Reamms, Wayne Doss and Danny Hicks. Honorary pallbearers were Alan Sheckell, Nathan Bullock, Michael Wilson, C.J. Smith, Ben Smith, Garrick Wilson, and Aaron Wilson.
