SURNAMES: STEELE, GROSS
QRYTEXT: Am seeking information on the Steele after whom Steele, Missouri was named. Family legend has it that it is my great grandmother's brother.(probably half brother). My great grandmother was Donno Inez Steele. She was born in 1875 in the Oran, Missouri area. She married August Gross in the late 1800's and had 4 children. Probably around 1910 she left him with the younger of her children - my grandmother, Augusta and her youngest, my uncle, Leonard. To my knowledge, she had no further contact with either the Gross family nor the Steele family. I am trying to find out more about both of these families. Any information that ties in or coroborrates will be most appreciated. I am particularly interested in confirming the name of the brother after whom Steele was named.
