I am researching MICHAEL KLEMP AND CATHERINE RUDDA as described below:
William Klemp is a native of Prussia, born in 1827 and is a son of
Michael and Catherine Rudda Klemp, native of Poland, who moved to
American in 1847. They landed in New Orleans, from whence they went to
St. Louis. Later then came to Perry County, Missouri, and purchased 200
acres of land on which both parents died, the father of ninety years and
the mother of seventy-four years of age. William recieved but a limited
education in his native country due the war troubles. September 18, 1853
he was united in marriage with Margaret Snyder, a native of Metz, France,
who came to Missouri with her parents in 1831 and settled in the Brazeau
Township, Perry County. After his marriage Mr. Klemp settled on his
farm, which he sold after and purchased his present farm of 410 acres.
Besides his farming interest, he operates a sawmill, a threshing machine
and clover huller, and raises a great deal of stock anf fruit. To him
and his wife have been born 13 children:
Caroline (wife of Fritz Bardle), Flora (who married John Boxdorfer),
Henry, William, Emmanuel, Thomas (who died in childhood), Charles,
Albert, Leonard, Emma, Tilla, Rosa, and Mary. During the war, Mr. Klemp
was a member of the Home Militia and is a Republican. He is also a
member of the Lutheran Church and served as director of the Church for 3
years as director of the school.
