Mar. 26, 1928-Sept. 19, 1997 Standard Democrat, Sikeston, MO Betty Sue Buchanan, 69, died Sept. 19, 1997, at the Sikeston Health Care Center. Born March 26, 1928, in Cairo, IL, daughter of the late Brian Holly and Ethel Marie Wilson Roberts, she had attended Cairo High School and later LPN School in Sikeston. She was employed by Ferguson Medical Group for 10 years and later owned and operated the Browse About and Kiddie Korral for about 10 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Sikeston. On March 26, 1944, she married Joel G. Buchanan, Sr. who survives of the home. Other survivors include: one son, Joel G. Buchanan, Jr. of Benton; two daughters, Susan Jo Mawyer of Richmond, VA and Linda Kay Towery of Sikeston; one sister Dorothy Burgher of Evansville, IN; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Shawn Buchanan on Aug. 9, 1997, and one brother, Jack Roberts. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Sikeston with Rev. Ed Pangburn, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
