    William Wesley Beard
    , age 65, a retired mechanic of Perkins, died in a Cape Girardeau hospital following an extended illness. 

    Mr. Beard was born at Esther July 6, 1906.  He was a member of the Baptist Church at Ste. Genevieve.

    On March 30, 1950, he married Retta Robinson at Piggott, Arkansas, she survives.

    Also surviving are three sons Kenneth Beard, Jackson, Darrell Beard, Cape Girardeau, and Jim Roberts Beard, Perkins; two daughters Mrs. Barbara Montgomery of Chaffee and Mrs. Lavana Swain of Illmo; a brother Walter Beard of Lutesville; a sister Mrs. Gladys Scott of Lawrence, Michigan and eight grandchildren.

    Services were conducted at the Missionary Baptist Church in Perkins by Rev. Bob Spradling and Rev. Sidney Bailey a retired minister of the church.   Shetley Funeral Home in Bell City handled arrangements.  Burial was in Perkins Cemetery.

NOTE:The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
