    Robert M. Davis
    , 54, died at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston on April 7, 1973.

    Born April 25, 1918 in Crowder, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey E. Davis.  On May 25, 1942, he married Miss Glenda Ruth May of Morley who survives.

    He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chamber of Commerce and DAEOC Council.  He was a former member of Scott County Child Welfare Advisory Committee and the University of Missouri Extension Council.

    He served in the Army in Europe for 26 months during World War II.   In 1958, he moved from Blodgett to Benton when he was appointed Scott County deputy sheriff and served until February of 1963.  From 1967 to 1970, he served as second district judge of the Scott County Court.

    Also surviving are two sons, Jim Bob Davis, and Joe Bill Davis of Benton, one brother Aubrey Lee Davis of Sikeston, and one grandson. 

    Services were held at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, with the Rev. J. Carl Frame pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. 


NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
